Privacy & Data Protection

The KAI Foundation provides a psychometric measure, the Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory (KAI). This measure was devloped by Dr M J Kirton while he was at Hatfield Polytechnic (now Hertfordshire University) in the UK during the 1970s, and was further developed by his own organisation, the Occupational Research Centre, and his company, KAI Distribution Centre Ltd, subsequently.

KAI is delivered online, with intermediation by qualified consultants (‘KAI Practitioners’). In order to deliver results to respondents, we need to collect their names and email addresses. This is a ‘legitimate interest’ use of data under UK and EU GDPR legislation. We do not use this data for any other purpose, and this data is deleted from our server after 2 years.

KAI Practitioners have access to the data on their own respondents, and are separately responsible for ensuring that they have approval from their respondents to collect and use their data, and are compliant with any applicable legislation in their own jurisdiction.

KAI Foundation is a trading name of KAI Distribution Centre Ltd, and is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK, no. Z6391325.

All respondents have the right to have their data deleted from our server, at any time. If you wish to do this, please contact us using this form.

Respondents who do not want to provide any data at all, but do want to take the KAI, can do so. This might apply, for example, to government or military uses. In this case, respondents should make this clear from the outset to their KAI Practitioner. KAI Practitioners are able to generate codes which allow the KAI to be taken completely anonymously. However, please bear in mind that the KAI Practitioner will still have to keep a look-up table of some kind, in order to deliver scores and feedback to the (anonymous) respondent.

A KAI Practitioner may decline to provide the KAI to respondents on an anonymous basis – this is the decision of the individual KAI Practitioner, not KAI Foundation. Please also bear in mind that if the KAI is taken anonymously, it may take longer to get scores, results, and feedback to the respondent.

Respondents’ data is held on a UK-based, PCI compliant server.

We use cookies on our website to provide analytics, performance improvements, and session data only (which is required in order for respondents to complete the KAI). All of these are considered ‘legitimate interest’ uses under UK & EU GDPR. We do not collect any personal information using cookies. More details of cookies in use are available here.
